We went back inside the Castle of Miracles after the carousel ride. Janelle returned to take her Gold Star to be hung in the Star Tower by the Star Fairy.
She wrote her name on the Gold Star with a magic pen (Sharpie).
and closed the box.
She watched the Star Fairy on the Fairy Windows as her Gold Star was being taken from the box. The Star Fairy hung her Gold Star in the Star Tower during the night.
The story of the Gold Star
Many years ago, when the Castle was still a small growing seedling, Mayor Clayton was entrusted with the important task of hanging the children’s wishing stars in the Castle sky. Each night he would take his basket of stars to the Castle, and hopping as high as his bunny legs could get him, he would hang each star in a special place in the sky.
However, the evening came, when the Castle had grown too big for him to reach the ceiling sky. Feeling frustrated, he went outside and flopped down in the grass. He felt like he was letting down the Village. As he looked up at the sparkling night sky, he spotted a shooting star. With an excited flicker of hope, he closed his eyes and made a special wish. “I wish I could find a better way to hang these stars… I want every child in my Village to have their own wish in the sky,” he whispered. Suddenly the star made a turn and began flying towards him! As the bright light approached a small twinkling figure came into view. It was a fairy! As she approached, she stumbled a bit in her eagerness and PHWAM! made a somewhat elegant crash-landing right in front of Mayor Clayton! Dusting herself off, she excitedly flitted over to Mayor Clayton, and introducing herself as the Wishing Star Fairy, held out a small twinkling star with the words “Mayor Clayton” written on it. “I caught your wishing star and I thought it would be best if it lives on forever in your Village for all the children here who have their own wishes to make.”
Mayor Clayton stood up excitedly and followed the Star Fairy inside the Castle. Selecting a special place, she carefully planted his wish in the living Castle ground, and sprinkled fairy dust on it. As it slowly grew into a beautiful treasure chest, she said “Children can drop their wishing stars here and I will come and hang them in the sky. Each child’s wish will live forever here in the Village buildings as well as my night sky.”
